LOGUE: “The result shows the desire the girls have”

After securing Kent FA Women’s Cup progress on Sunday afternoon, Coach Dan Logue spoke to the club’s media to give his verdict on the day’s result;

Logue on… Result  : “Obviously we are pleased to get into the next round. It’s good to go through in the cup and be in the hat for the next one. I wouldn’t say we played our best today, but to come away with the result shows the desire the girls have. That’s now having three wins on the trot, not playing our best football, and still learning all on the training ground.”

Logue on… Early goal : “It was their first shot. We had a chat at half time, our centre half and goalkeeper put their hands up straight away and knew the mistakes they made, drew a line under it and go. Good thing is because it was such and early goal we still had a lot of the game to build on, and go and do what we did.”

Logue on… Momentum into the game : “It’s something I’ve recognised since i’ve come in, the girls want to go and win games but sometime is about taking time and building yourself into the game. This is their cup final for them [Kent Football United] and play on Priestfield against us. It was a good result for us and I’m happy.”

Logue on… Second half performance: “A really good second half, just some things we needed to implement more, which we spoke about in the dressing room at half time. Girls took it on board and went out and done their jobs. I can’t ask for more.”

Logue on… Beating current Cup holders : “Its good to go into the next round, and beat the cup holders. But that means nothing in the cup, you never know what goes on, what people turn up on the day and you’ve got to do the business.”

Logue on… Recent wins : “That’s three wins on the bounce for us now. So we need to make sure the stuff we are doing in training carries on through into the games and use the confidence they are building now to go into the next games and carry on the winning run.”
