Gillingham Ladies manager Jack Wheeler spoke to the press after his Gills side recorded an emphatic 17-0 victory over Aylesford Ladies, in the Kent FA Women’s Cup Final at Maidstone’s Gallagher Stadium on Monday night.

Wheeler on … The Cup Final Win; “Really Proud and pleased for them. They have put in a solid effort throughout this season so far, I’m pleased for them to go out and play in such a handsome way, perform as they did and finally get their hands on the trophy.”

Wheeler on … His First Silverware At Gills; “Im over the moon, a trophies a trophy at the end of the day, big or small. Im really pleased for the girls, we’ve got a good bunch, they all get along and enjoy what they are doing. There’s nothing better really.”

Wheeler on … Goals and Clean Sheets; “We are hitting form at the right time of the season, as long as we keep doing the right things and performing well, there won’t be too many teams that will stand in the girls way at the moment.”

Wheeler on … Important League Games In April; “The way we are performing, the fire power up front and the clean sheets, the development and progression we have got in the whole team has been really pleasing, especially over the last five months. I think we’ve really stepped it up, it shows how hungry they are and the desire they have. We need to make sure we bottle this, this lovely feeling we’ve got of winning the cup, transpire it into the league and go on and be successful.”

After the magnificent Cup success, Gillingham Ladies host Stevenage Ladies at K Sports on Sunday afternoon, kick off 2pm. Adults £3 and Under 16s are FREE. Come #RoarUsOn
