Gills Ladies set up new link with Local Club

Gillingham Ladies are pleased to announce a new partnership with local side Larkfield FC. The Girls section at the grassroots club have agreed to sponsor player Fliss Gibbons for the season and this new initiative will see Fliss Gibbons become a mentor and ambassador at the club that currently hosts teams in eight different ages groups (U8’s through to U16’s). This new initiative will further compliment the relationship we already have in place with the Kent Girls and Ladies Football League.

Fliss’ will join in at a number of Larkfield’s training sessions throughout the season to provide the clubs young female footballers a chance to interact with the forward, gain tips and skills to take into their games and ask questions about what Fliss has experienced in her time in Women’s football. Fliss will also make an appearance later on this season at Larkfield’s annual end of season ceremony to present trophies to congratulate the girls.

Speaking to Fliss, she was excited by the link up between the clubs;

“It’s always good to give something back to the grass roots clubs, and as I grew up playing football around here, it’s perfect for me to join in with. I am really looking forward to it.”

Sarah M’Grady of Larkfield FC Girls Sections said;

“This is a fabulous opportunity for Larkfield FC and for our growing girls section… our sponsorship is a mutually beneficial arrangement that will see our young girls gain a player to idolize and the older girls get a mentor to gain experience and support from .. the fact that Fliss is local to us is really great and we look forward to seeing her around the club.”
