Gillingham Ladies proudly entered the Kent Reliance County Cup competitions submitting our #MagicOfTheCup moment.

The competition encourages teams to issue snapshots illustrating moments of magic both on and off the pitch.

Gillingham Ladies submitted a photo after the club’s Centre of Excellence attended the team’s Kent Cup tie against Dartford Royals.

After the game, the young footballers were able to meet their heroes. The photo captures the moment Gills Ladies player Chelsea Wallace discusses her wrist fracture with a young COE player with a similar injury.

The endearing image successfully represents a brilliant afternoon for a generation of Gills players. In return for winning this round of the competition, Gillingham Ladies were presented five Nike footballs by Kent FA Councillor Derek Owen before their Kent derby against Herne Bay in the FA Cup.

Gills Manager Jack Wheeler said: “We’re really pleased Derek was able to pop down to watch our match and make the presentation. Our winning photo is one of several we’ve captured this season which epitomise what we’re all about at this football club.”

“Cup games help us draw bigger crowds, create a good atmosphere and encourage more people to follow the women’s game. The Kent Cup is an important competition for us and it was nice to receive this boost ahead of Sundays’ tie against London Corinthians who the girls played last season in the final.”

“We thank Kent FA and sponsors Kent Reliance for generously supporting us. Fingers crossed we can enjoy a good run in the Kent Women’s Cup this season and continue to push the women’s game in this county forwards!”
