Gillingham Ladies Fixtures for the 2015/16 season have been announced by the FA Women’s Premier League.
With the squad preparing for their first pre-season trip to Tottenham Hotspur Ladies this Sunday, Darren Hare and Jack Wheeler’s side found out their season schedule today.
Gills will start the season at home on Sunday 16th August, welcoming Ispwich Town Ladies who they’ll face again just weeks later on Sunday 6th September.
It’s a double header at home for the ladies as the following week Bedford Ladies travel to Kent.
The Gills will conclude their season with a tough away trip to MK Dons.
Upon receiving the list of fixtures, Wheeler expressed his delight and excitement for the new season to get underway.
“I’m really pleased with our batch of fixtures, it’s particularly pleasing to be starting the season at home. The team had a great deal of support at home last year and I hope that continues to grow this season. The work for us off the pitch is to foster the fan base we’ve built over the past few seasons and get a huge crowd to our first game on Sunday 16th August.”
“All the excitement and anticipation around the Women’s World Cup is filtering its way through to WSL attendance figures, and as the leading club in Kent, there’s no reason why we can’t continue to lead the way with some of the largest attendances in the FA WPL. That is our aim, besides providing entertaining football to watch and enjoy.”
Hare added; “The girls have been applying themselves really well and I’ve been impressed by their endeavours so far in pre-season. Everyone at the football club is determined for this to be a great season. It’s been a really enjoyable couple of months for us all and long may it continue.”
