Kent FA Football Development Officer Liz Symons fully expects this summer’s Women’s World Cup to further help break down boundaries in the women’s game.

“The 2012 Olympics were a real turning point for women’s football in this country. The level of exposure the team received made people take a step back and appreciate the women’s game. These massive tournaments present a platform for our elite players to represent and champion women’s football, changing mind-sets and inspiring young footballers across the county.”

“Since the Olympics our domestic game has gone from strength to strength. The FA WSL 1 and 2 sets a really high standard for the whole pyramid to aspire to. At the Kent FA, we work hard to ensure the player pathway for female footballers is clear and accessible, that more women work, referee and coach in the game.”

“We’re delighted to host this female only Level 1 coaching course. We think by providing an event for female coaches to make this first step, we can assist in building a strong network for them to continue their development, find support from one another and lead the way in getting more female coaches actively out there in Kent.”

As Kent’s leading ladies team, Gillingham Ladies would like to encourage any aspiring female who would like the opportunity to take part in this course to book by clicking this link.

With a number of senior players at the football club, including Lauren Phillips, Emma Tune and Lauren Williams, obtaining some of the highest levels of coaching qualifications The FA offers, Gills Ladies believes in the importance of encouraging more women to get into coaching, building stronger networks and further enhancing the progress women’s football in this country is making.
