This weekend kicks off an important couple of weeks for us. We play both Plymouth Argyle and QPR Ladies at home and they are key games for us.
In the first half of the season we had a tough start. Now we’ve played the top five teams both home and away it’s important we try and get points off those around us and especially the next two games we have at Chatham Town.
We’ve started the year well in the league. Despite losing to Portsmouth we put in a very good performance against one of the league’s best teams and probably enjoyed more possession against them . We got an a really important win away at Lewes. Sadly I couldn’t start the game because I was ill, however I was at the game and so proud of the girls.
The team put in a real shift and I was so proud watching on the sidelines. Everyone worked really hard for one another and going forward its important we keep them mentality. It’s a tight league and with us now facing teams down our end of the league, we can push on from here.
The next two Sundays will be key and of course we’ve experienced before the amazing atmosphere our fans have made at games. It’s been a while since we had a league game and it will be nice to put on a performance on Sunday.
The last time we played Plymouth remains vivid in my mind. It was one of the worst games I played in due to the injury to Jade. As a very close friend and team-mate, to witness such a horrific injury sticks with you. Despite that, we really could have gone away with some points. Today, with a fresh slate we will be confident and look to put in a good, error-free performance.
If any fans are thinking of coming down on Sunday, on behalf of the players we’d love to see you there. For Under 16s the games are free so if anyone wants to bring any aspiring future Gills Ladies players we hope to put in a performance you’ll enjoy!
Gillingham Ladies welcome Plymouth Argyle to Chatham Town FC this Sunday. KO 2pm.
