A local derby this week means spirits are high and the girls are excited in what I’m sure will be a cracker of a game to start off the Christmas season.
With what has been a difficult period coming into December with a string of bad results, we really are looking to gaining as many points as we possibly can before we break up for Christmas. By putting in solid performances we honestly believe we can get these results from the next few games coming up.
Looking back on our last few matches we haven’t had the results we perhaps would of liked. However, from each game there were some positives to take away from it. We have been trying very hard on the training ground to keep these positives moving forwards to constantly improve our team performance.
It really does feel that with the difficult string of results the team has had to stick together and really help and rely on one another in certain situations. We have become closer as a team and this only benefits us further and gives us confidence going into each game knowing your team mates are 100% behind you.
The whole team is still very much missing our good friend and team mate Jade and are wishing her well on her recovery. She has had her cast removed now and can start light movements with her ankle which is very pleasing however without rushing Jade, we cannot wait to have you back!
Winter is in full flow and as mentioned previously Christmas holidays are fast approaching. We have lots of plans for the break which includes loads of training but of course Secret Santa, a Christmas meal and a team night out at the bowling alley which I’m sure we will see some interesting techniques and tactics being used (no barriers allowed). Not only from the players but I’ve heard the management quite fancy their chances in winning….soooo hopefully they aren’t too big for their boots and they can actually produce on the day. 😉
Training has started to get very cold in the past few weeks, even postie Rachel is wearing trousers which is unheard of! Tuney is sporting some lovely new hats which I know Simon absolutely loves haha! However lots of girls, both in the reserves and first team, are training hard and always looking to improve which is really encouraging. Although I think they all need to improve on the crossbar challenge we did for a bit of fun done last week with only one of us hitting the crossbar….can you guess who it was?! Maybe you could tweet us with your guess.
Of course with two home games in December we would love to encourage as many of you to come along with the much needed support to help us through these games. We promise they will be belters with Charlton on the 7th and Cardiff on the 14th. Up the Gillllssssss!
Merry Christmas, I hope you all have a very festive and safe holiday and a Happy New Year!
