Gills round off year with Player of the Year celebration


On Saturday evening Gillingham Ladies players, staff and guests gathered at Old Elthamians Sports Club to celebrate Gills Ladies historic 2013/14 season, where Six different players claimed awards during the evening.


With a season of very impressive performances at the heart of defence, Gills defender Deanna Cooper scooped the Players’ Player of the Year award.


Charlotte Gurr collected the award for Top Goalscorer, with 21 goals this season.


Club captain Vicky Ashton-Jones collected the Tim Turner award which is presented to Gillingham Ladies person of the year. Vicky who suffered a knee injury right at the start of the season was ruled out of the whole campaign, but has not missed a minute of it from the sidelines. From encouraging the team from the dugout of the firsts and a spell managing the Reserves team.


The Reserves team Player of the Year 2014 was won by Bonnie Long.

The Reserve team Top Goalscorers were shared between Sophie Brown and Holly Learmonth.
