Gills face second cup game in three days as they visit Herne Bay

Gillingham Ladies take on their second cup match in the space of three days, when they visit Herne Bay in the Semi Final of the Ryman League Cup at Winches Field on Tuesday night. Gills go into the game on the back of a 5-0 win over Ebbsfleet United Ladies which sees the Gills make the Kent Cup final for the third year running. It was goals from Jade Keogh, Jay Blackie, Charlotte Gurr, Emma Tune and an own goal that saw Gills secure a place against Charlton Reserves at Maidstone United on Thursday 10th April.

Gills opponents Herne Bay currently sit 2nd in the SECWL Division 1 East, they are currently on a good run of form being unbeaten since late October, their last two fixtures results ended 7-0 against Prince of Wales and 6-0 against Ashford Girls, they have progressed through the last round of the Ryman Cup with a penalty shootout win over Maidstone United Ladies. In Gillingham’s run to Ryman Cup victory last season, Gills faced Herne Bay in the Quarter Finals. The result that night was a 5-0 win to Gills as they went on to lift the cup.

TEAM NEWS: With the quick succession of games there may be a rotation in the squad after Sunday’s win over Ebbsfleet.
