It’s been a while since I’ve done the Skipper’s Blog but it’s good to be involved again!
I’ve been away was because of my knee surgery. It’s been a little over three weeks since the operation and it’s getting stronger every day. I’m very excited to be back around the girls again and look forward to getting involved with games and training as and where I can.
The target is to be back pre season so I’ll keep working hard towards that goal! I would like to thank all the girls and everyone associated to Gillingham Ladies FC for their continued support. The first team have a big game this weekend against Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup. The girls will go into that game full of confidence of getting a good result. We played Forest in the FA Cup last season, only losing narrowly 3-2.
We have improved as a side so much from last year and I know the girls have been training hard for this game so I think we can go to Forest and be confident to get the win we want. Forest are a very strong side and don’t doubt they will make the game very difficult for us.
Looking at the forthcoming fixtures there is a fair few away days! Our next home game isn’t till 16th March against Coventry in the league so there’s several away games between now and then. The supporters do have an opportunity to attend the away fixtures coming up, the club have arranged a coach for the supporters to travel with the team to the Keynsham and Coventry.
These are big games for the team so to have the supporters there would really help the team! Plus they can be involved on the bus banter, have to watch out for the gaffer though as his banter can be ropey! Details can be found on the clubs website, but everyones welcome!
