It’s with a heavy heart that Gillingham Ladies have to say a fond farewell to Watford Ladies loanee Fliss Gibbons who returns back to the Women’s Super League club this month.

Fliss enjoyed a fourth month stay at the Gills and made a fantastic impact on and off the pitch during her stay.
Fliss got her loan spell of to a fantastic start getting on the score sheet for Gills emphatic 5-0 win at home to Chesham United.

With brilliant pace, vision and a tireless work rate, Fliss continued her goal scoring run in Gills famous 7-2 win against Tottenham Hotspur.

A particular highlight during Fliss’ stay at the club was when she scored an important opening goal against Coventry City which helped propel her team mates to an outstanding 4-0 win away from home.

During her time at Gills, Fliss has shone; often found galloping past defenders, opening up opportunties for
herself and her team mates, Fliss has also been a massive asset to the club off the pitch.

Always happy to support the media set up at the club, Fliss has been interviewed by BBC Radio Kent (at a very ungodly hour) and South Eastern News. Fliss was part of the club’s visit to Medway Hospital Children’s Ward and has been a pleasure to have around the club.

Additionally, Fliss has brought great pride to the club with both for her selection to the England Under 23s boot camp to her marvelous performance in the Gills ‘On the Spot’ quiz!

Manager James Marrs paid tribute to Fliss: “I’d like to use this time to thank Watford and more importantly thank Fliss for her efforts here. She has been a real asset to us in the time that she has been here.”
“Her professionalism and attitude since she arrived has been exceptional.”

“I really do hope that Fliss goes on to achieve her goals and I am sure she will with the right guidance. I believe she has been selected with the England Under 23s camp and there is no reason why she cannot go on and better that by being involved in the Senior side.”

“I am looking forward to going to watch her play for Watford (free tickets!) and hopefully she has enjoyed her time with us.”

The club would like to place on record its thanks to Fliss for all she has contributed on and off the pitch during her loan stay at Gillingham Ladies Football Club. We certainly won’t be losing touch and will be keeping a firm eye on Watford’s starlet as she performs in the Women’s Super League in the summer.
Best of luck Fliss from everyone at Gillingham Ladies Football Club.
