Gillingham Welcome Mascots To Match

Gillingham Ladies had several special guests to Chatham FC for the club’s home game against Brighton and Hove Albion.

Firstly, the club welcomed both Gills and Brighton legend, Robbie Renielt, and his family. Robbie scored one of the most vitals goal in Brighton’s history, with the winning goal that kept Brighton out of the Conference League. Robbie’s family were invited to watch the game, with daughter Mabel a match mascot.

After the game, Mabel’s Mum, Lisa Reinelt revealed the whole family had a brilliant day out; “Thank you for having Mabel as one of your mascots today, we all really enjoyed the match.”

In addition to Mabel, the club were able to welcome two youngsters from our partners Pro Kickers Academy to lead the team out.

After Gills Ladies featured on BBC Radio Kent’s Saturday Sport’s show, the club has been inundated with families across the county whose young daughters aspire to play football but sadly come across barriers to be able to play. With Gillingham Ladies leading the way in the Southern Premier League, the aspirational value the club can bring to the local community is one we’re keen to build on.

As a result, when Paul Stevens got in touch with the club to express his delight to hear more women’s coverage on the radio, we were able to invite him and his two daughters to come and watch our top of the league clash.

After the impressive 3-0 demolition of The Seagulls, Paul was clearly impressed with the Gills Ladies set up. Paul told us; “I would like to thank all the people involved with the Gills Ladies who gave myself and my daughters a great afternoon of football.”

“Well done to the girls, it was good to see football how it should be played. Both my girls loved it and can’t wait to tell their team mates of their experience.”

Gillingham Ladies welcomes young girl’s and women’s team around the county and beyond to come along to our games. We’re always happy to accomodate for teams, small groups and families to come down to a home game for a good day afternoon out.

Likewise, we are looking for mascots to lead our girls out as they continue to battle for the Southern Premier title with their unbeaten run.
