Gillingham Ladies Director of Football Bill Long, Manager James Marrs and Assistant Jack Wheeler, were collectively proud of their team’s performance against Brighton and Hove Albion on Sunday.
Goals from Amy Taylor, Charlotte Gurr and Lisa Fulgence sealed an important three points for the unbeaten Kent side.
Bill Long applauded the Gills professional attitude, explaining that coming out for the first half with a fast tempo gave the Gills the upper hand. Bill added that the home side demonstrated great maturity to defend against Brighton’s come-back in the second half but concluded Gills warranted the win with three superb goals.
Assitant Manager Jack Wheeler paid tribute the squad set up at the club, explaining that players in and around the sqaud, as well as the Reserves who visted Charlton, play a huge role to the first team’s success. Jack admitted selection choices are tough at the club currently and that the three substitutes who came on against Brighton, proved the strengh and depth the club has.
Finally, Manager James Marrs revealed he was pleased with an ‘important’ win. After much media build up for the top of the table clash, James was delighted with the way his side approached the game and saluted their attitude as key to defeating Brighton so convincingly.
